During a recent coaching call, a pastor and I were discussing how uncomfortable and nervous one can be when preaching on the topic of money and giving. We’re always worried what people will think, how will they respond?
That same day I posted some thoughts on this and immediately heard back from my friend Tim Holt who pastors Seacoast Vineyard Church. Tim said, “I finally asked our church for “permission” to let me preach on money as I do any topic, but if we needed more money, got in a pinch, to simply tell them so, and ask for more. The church applauded.”
Wow, when was the last time you heard a story like that?
Why do you think preaching on money, giving, stewardship makes us nervous? How do you handle this subject at your church?
